The European Trust Alliance (THETA) is a European initiative that brings together pioneering organisations working on the future of trust. From controlling dis- and misinformation, to re-establishing trust in institutions, from data governance to ethical AI, from secure digital infrastructures to inclusive policy—THETA connects research, ideas, people and institutions to transform trust from a European concern to a shared European asset.

What does THETA do?

THETA is an open and independent alliance that:

  • Develops knowledge about trust in media and information sources.

  • Initiates innovative solutions to empower citizens and organizations to regain control over data and information and restore polarisation.

  • Builds connections between knowledge institutions, (media) companies, governments, and other stakeholders.

THETA has three approaches:

  1. Partner projects: projects in which one or more of our partners participate: f.e. C2PA
  2. Research initiatives initiated by THETA, based on market questions that still need development and research. Including dissemination of existing research. f.e. news media approachability as a condition for trust.

  3. Network projects: f.e. development of a European Trust database, research funding overviews or  or international summits.
